Curriculum Vitae

Bio

As an Associate Professor at the Department of Environmental Science and Management under North South University, my focus is environmental management and design, where I seek to harmonize the relationship between communities and nature for the future sustainability. My investigations encompass how communities engage with natural resources, with a critical eye on deforestation in protected zones. Using remote sensing technology, I analyze forest cover dynamics and the intertwined socio-economic implications. A pivotal aspect of my research also assesses the environmental and community impact of substantial refugee influxes. Furthermore, I quantify ecosystem services, emphasizing the role of ecosystem service payments in bolstering conservation endeavors. My findings have been published in reputed journals including Land Use Policy, Remote Sensing, and Trees, Forests and People, and Small-Scale Forestry. My goal is to forge strategies ensuring a symbiotic coexistence between humanity and nature in our rapidly urbanizing world.

I obtained my PhD in Design from the Graduate School of Design at Kyushu University back in 2018. I have been working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Environmental Design at Kyushu University from 2023 to 2026. During my tenure at Kyushu University, I have actively participated in numerous research projects related to poverty and deforestation, environmental impact assessment, and the resilience of refugee livelihoods.
