Rania Jamal

Rania Jamal is appointed as a Full-time Lecturer in the Department of Environmental Science and Management at North South University (2026-present). She holds an M.S. in Environmental Science with a concentration in Energy and Climate Change Science from Indiana University Bloomington, and a B.S. in Environmental Science from North South University.

Her research draws on life cycle assessment (LCA) and systems thinking to examine the environmental footprint of industrial and energy processes. She is also interested in geospatial approaches to assess climate change vulnerability based on environmental and socio-economic factors — work that informs her interest in climate resilience planning and  policy frameworks. 

She has around 5 years of experience in both independent and collaborative research, and has made significant contributions in uncovering the environnmental and human health impacts of the lead-acid battery industry of Bangladesh, presenting her findings through a publication in an international journal as well as a presentation in an international conference. Her internship with local government in Indiana, has contributed to a city's official Urban Tree Planting Plan, a long-term document shaping the city's urban forestry strategy for years to come.
