About

Dr. Tahmina Tabassum is a molecular cell biologist specializing in translational genome editing, advanced cell culture models, and preclinical therapeutics. She holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Cell Biology from The University of Queensland, where her doctoral research focused on enhancing the precision and safety of ex-vivo cell therapies. Her work led to the co-development of the "CasPER" gene-editing platform, which is currently under provisional patent through UniQuest.

Her expertise spans the interface of academic innovation and biotechnological application. She has driven research initiatives within the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) as part of the Wolvetang group, leading industry-focused cell line development and compound screening initiatives for international biotechnology partners. Her global portfolio includes a fully funded industry placement at Azafaros in Switzerland, where she evaluated the preclinical and regulatory frameworks of stem cell technologies. Prior to her doctoral work, she achieved a Master of Biotechnology with High Distinction from Griffith University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science from North South University, Dhaka.
