Presented a paper titled ‘A study of the Land use planning and Transportation planning of Dhaka region to explore possibilities of Transit Oriented Development to restructure urban growth of Greater Dhaka and creating a multimodal hierarchical transport network integrated with water transportation to reduce traffic congestion in Dhaka’ at the conference organized by Bangladesh Development Initiative and Center for South Asian Studies University of California Berkeley titled BRIDGING THE POLICY-ACTION DIVIDE: CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS FOR BANGLADESH held on February 22nd through 24th, in UC Berkeley, California 2013, as lead author,  co- written by Maher Niger, Asst. Prof Ahsanullah University. Paper is under process of publication in the Journal of Bangladesh Studies.

Artifex is a 10 person firm, focused on commercial interiors, multifamily housing, single unit residences, both design- build and architectural consultancy.

Scope of work includes space programming, schematic design, consultant coordination, cost estimation, construction documentation, contract administration for single unit residences, multifamily housing and commercial office interiors. Design- build works focused on commercial interiors, renovation, exhibition pavilions and show-rooms.

Work experience in USA

Intermediate Architect/Designer at Cannon Design, St. Louis, USA from September 2008 to July 2009.

Cannon Design is a 800 person AE firm with 19 offices worldwide, specializing in lab, education and healthcare design.

  • Prepared construction documents in Schematic Design and Design Development  phase using Autodesk Revit 2008 for a 500,000 sf. commercial Biotech Lab Office Complex, located in St. Louis. Responsibilities included coordination between various teams of consultants, vendors, contractors and manufacturers to resolve potential conflicts and provide necessary details.

 

  • Prepared construction documents in the Construction Documentation phase for University Hospital Case Medical Center, a 400,000 sf. Cancer Facility in Cleveland, Ohio using AutoCAD Architecture 2008. Scope of work included producing construction documents integrating building systems with electrical, mechanical, fire detection and other systems.

 

  • Worked on the healthcare planning team for the King Abdullah Center for Cancer and Liver Diseases, a 360 bed, 775,000 sf. cancer center in Schematic design phase. Responsibilities included preparing presentations for client meetings, program analysis, schematic design.

  1. Organized several workshops to compile a Compendium of Best Practices of Sustainable design for Architects.
  2. Initiated a search to understand the key issues which habitat designers should focus on to ensure sustainability and resilience in Bangladesh.
