About

Shanila Taneem received her Masters Degree in Finance and Economics, from Ryerson University (Toronto, Canada) in the year 2008, and completed her undergraduate degree from North South University as a Summa Cum Laude with a major in Finance and Marketing in the year 2005.

As a student at Ryserson, her research paper concentrated on the “Information content of Dividend Announcement in Emerging Markets particularly India”. Her Research Paper was published by Clute Institute in their International Business & Economics Research Journal in May 2011. After her graduation, she also worked in different organizations both home and abroad as Management Trainee. She is also currently the Director Of Green Care Agro Tea Company. This is the first tea company in Bangladesh, which is working for poverty alleviation in North Bengal.

Research interests: Corporate finance, financial markets, corporate governance, ESG performance, audit quality, and financial inclusion

Provide strategic leadership and corporate governance for an established international manpower recruitment and workforce solutions company. The company has facilitated overseas employment for approximately 20,000 Bangladeshi workers and supported the deployment of more than 8,000 workers across major infrastructure and industrial projects in Bangladesh. Bluestar has served international clients including Saipem, GPS, SPIE CAPAG, and WELCO, while contributing manpower to nationally significant projects involving Geo Ocean, Ital Thai, Gas Transmission Company Limited (GTCL), Barapukuria Coal Mine, Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Company Limited (RPGCL), and Karnaphuli Shipyard. The company also established one of the first Singapore-standard technical training centres in Bangladesh, promoting internationally recognized skills development for overseas employment. This leadership role provides practical experience in corporate governance, international business, project management, human capital development, regulatory compliance, and strategic decision-making, which are regularly integrated into finance teaching, case discussions, internship supervision, and applied research.

Research Interests

Ms. Taneem's research focuses on the intersection of corporate finance, financial markets, corporate governance, ESG performance, audit quality, and financial inclusion.

Her recent publication in Cogent Economics & Finance, an ABDC 'B' ranked, Scopus Q2, and Web of Science (ESCI) indexed journal, reflects her continued engagement in internationally recognized scholarly research. As of July 2026, my publications have received 48 citations according to Google Scholar, demonstrating sustained academic visibility and contribution to the finance literature. She also received North South University CTRG-fund for future research which strengthens this research trajectory through international collaboration on sustainability and audit quality.Going forward, she intends to expand her research into sustainable finance, corporate governance, emerging capital markets, financial inclusion, and the application of responsible business practices in developing economies. Her objective is to produce research that contributes to academic knowledge while also generating practical implications for business managers, regulators, investors, and policymakers.
