About the Journal

Panini: NSU Studies in Language and Literature is a double-blind peer-reviewed academic journal of the Department of English and Modern Languages, North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Panini welcomes scholarly articles in the areas of Literature, Linguistics, TESOL, and Cultural Studies for consideration for publication.

Since the first publication in 2002, the journal has made major contribution to the scholarship in the fields of literature, language, and TESOL. Articles published in the journal have responded to, critiqued, and investigated the current trends in their respective fields.

Issues often have special focus. Previous special issues and sections have included studies in Shakespeare, among others.

The journal appeals to a wide readership that includes academics, students, practitioners, policymakers and the public. It aims to publish one issue per year and is open access. The final published version of every article (or Version of Record) is permanently and freely available online for anyone, anywhere, to read. There are no charges for submitting or processing any manuscript.

Submission Guidelines

Panini requires its contributors to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and failure to comply may result in rejection. All articles should be in a Microsoft Word-compatible format without exception. Submissions in PDF or a format incompatible with MS Word will not be considered. Panini follows a standardized format; hence, authors are expected to follow this formatting style.

 Guidelines for authors:

    • Prior to submission, register and login as an author to the system.
    • Manuscript must be submitted through the system of the journal. Manuscript submissions through email will not be considered.
    • The manuscript should contain between 5,000 to 7,000 words with single space (excluding Abstract and Reference section) and in one column style.
    • The submitted manuscript is in English with doc., docx., or rtf. formats, single space, 12 font size, Times New Roman, A4 paper with 2.54 cm margins.
    • The title should be no more than 15 words, in sentence case, centered, 14 font size.
    • The abstract must be between 200-250 words, consisting of the background of the study, the purpose of the paper, research methodology, and main findings/results, and conclusion. Following the abstract, write three to five keywords.
    • No header or footer is required. If needed, the author may use an endnote instead of footnote.
    • Manuscripts on literature should follow the MLA Handbook (9th Edition) and the APA Handbook (7th Edition) for Linguistics, TESOL, and Cultural Studies articles. Every source cited in the body of the article should appear in the reference, and all sources appearing in the reference should be cited in the body of the article.à Identify the corresponding author with an asterisk (*) and list author names in publication order with affiliation, country, and email address.
