Raihana Sharmin has been working as a Lecturer of Psychology at North South University since 2023. She has specializations in Clinical Psychology and Social and Cross-cultural Psychology. Upon completing her MS in Clinical Psychology from the University of Dhaka, she worked in the development, promotion, and evaluation of mental health services for marginalized populations, including Rohingya refugees. She completed her second master’s degree in the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's Degree in the Global-MINDS program (Psychology of Global Mobility, Inclusion, and Diversity in Society) and attended three universities in Poland, Turkey, and Portugal. She is the recipient of the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship funded by the EU.
Her research interests include cost-effective and accessible mental health services, acculturation of immigrants and refugees, and social and cultural identity. Her ongoing research projects include "Developing a mental health chatbot for Bangladeshi university students" and "Assessing suicide myths among health and mental health professionals working with the Rohingya refugees". She is an Intercultural Competence Trainer and helps expatriates and international students in cultural adaptation through this training.
