Marzan Bintey Kamal serves as a Junior Lecturer in the Department of History and Philosophy at North South University (NSU), a position she has held since 2019. Prior to joining NSU, she gained teaching experience as a Lecturer and Course Coordinator at Daffodil International University, following her initial role as a Middle School Teacher and subsequent rapid promotion to Senior Teacher at HURDCO International School.
Ms. Kamal is an alumna of the Department of History at the University of Dhaka, where she secured merit positions in both her Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Master of Arts (MA) degrees. Her undergraduate and postgraduate education is noted for fostering strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in challenging environments. She has further supplemented her academic training through participation in various workshops and seminars focused on historical subfields, interpersonal skills, and professional cultures.
Marzan Bintey Kamal's research focuses on Peace and Conflict, with significant contributions to understanding the Rohingya crisis and urban development in Bangladesh. Her published work includes a peer-reviewed journal article in The Jahangirnagar Review (2022), "Diffusionism in Reinstating the Coexistence and Harmony of the Rohingyas in Burmese Society," which critically examines historical frameworks for Rohingya integration. She also contributed a chapter, "Bangladesh’s View to the Rohingya Refugees: A Tale of Humanity," to the edited volume 50 Years of Bangladesh: A Tale of A Miracle (Prothoma Prokashon, 2022), for which she served as Assistant Editor.
Ms. Kamal has actively disseminated her research internationally. She presented her work on the Rohingya, "Diffusionism in Reinstating the Coexistence and Harmony of the Rohingyas in Burmese Society," at the World History Association (USA) International Conference in 2021, notably becoming the second Bangladeshi to present at this forum and the first to introduce the Rohingya issue to its platform. She is scheduled to present forthcoming collaborative research on urban history, "Remittance and Migration Influences the Urban Developments: Case of Cumilla, Bangladesh," at the International Conference organized by ARCH-BUD, Poland, in September 2025.
Her current research portfolio includes several completed manuscripts awaiting submission. These comprise collaborative projects on the urban history of Cumilla, Bangladesh (50 Years of Cumilla City since Independence and Remittance and Migration Influences the Urban Developments: Case of Cumilla, Bangladesh), funded by NSU's CTRG grants, and a solo-authored manuscript analyzing the Great Game of the Global Powers in Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. Her work demonstrates a commitment to exploring complex historical narratives in Bangladesh and Southeast Asia.
Ms. Kamal demonstrates a strong commitment to historical scholarship and professional development. Her dedication to exploring complex themes in history is evident in her focused research agenda.
