Date: Sunday, 01 July 2018 Dr. Tess Caswell is a simulated astronaut for NASA's long-duration space missions, a planetary scientist, and an aerospace engineer. Dr. Caswell worked as an Environmental and Thermal Operating Systems or “ETHOS†flight controller for the International Space Station. As an ETHOS, she monitored and controlled the life support and thermal control systems of the ISS, which help keep astronauts alive and comfortable while they are in space. Dr. Caswell is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory and a STEM mentor for young women. She holds a PhD in Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences from Brown University and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alaska.
