Our Strategic Goals & Commitment

Goal 1: Advance Research Excellence

  • Foster cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research on environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and socio-ecological systems.
  • Increase peer-reviewed publications, policy briefs, and research grants.
  • Develop NSU’s leadership in national and global environmental research networks.

Goal 2: Strengthen Education & Capacity Building

  • Integrate sustainability and climate change into undergraduate and graduate curricula.
  • Develop training modules, executive education, and certificate programs for professionals, NGOs, and public sector staff.
  • Offer workshops and fellowships for young researchers and students.

Goal 3: Drive Policy Impact

  • Provide research-based policy recommendations to government, civil society, and international organizations.
  • Host roundtables and dialogues on key national and global climate issues.
  • Collaborate with ministries, UN agencies, and development partners.

Goal 4: Model Institutional Sustainability

  • Implement green practices on the NSU campus as a living laboratory for environmental stewardship.
  • Promote energy efficiency, waste reduction, and carbon footprint monitoring within the university.

Goal 5: Youth led initiatives

  • Implement grassroots climate action and sustainability projects in rural and urban areas.
  • Support youth-led environmental initiatives through grants, mentorship, and networking.
  • Run awareness campaigns and citizen science programs.

Goal 6: Promote Global Partnerships

  • Build collaborations with global centers of excellence on environment and climate change.
  • Participate in international forums such as COPs, UN HLPF, and SDG Summits.
  • Joint research and faculty/student exchange with international universities.
