Curriculum Vitae

Miss Parboti Roy is a Lecturer at the Department of Political Science and Sociology, teaches courses on introduction to sociology, contemporary issues in gender relationships, gender, and development. She worked in several development organizations prior to initiate her career at the North South University, particularly in the area of knowledge management, research and advocacy on gender mainstreaming at the organizational level,  advocacy program on gender, masculinities, gender-based violence, and development. She was awarded Australian Development Scholarship to accomplish her second Master degree in Women's Studies, Flinders University, Australia. She completed her first Master and Bachelor degree in the Department of Women and Gender Studies, Dhaka University.  Her research interest focuses on indigenous issues and women,  gender-based violence,  human rights and marginalized population, women in economic development, masculinities, gender, and development.

  • Golden Key Award 2013 for excellent academic performance at Flinders University Golden Key Chapter.
  • Awarded as an Independent  Research Fellow funded by Save the Children Sweden and the South Asian Network to Address Masculinities’ (SANAM) Fellowship Program on Understanding Masculinities: Culture, Politics & Social Change’ in 2011 in an eight months individual research project titled as ‘Ethnic Conflict and Masculinities: A Study on the Impact of Conflict on Indigenous Men in Chittagong Hill Tracts Bangladesh’. The aim of the study was to explore how the construction of masculinities, ethnic conflict, and nationalist project intersects in the context of Chittagong Hill Tracts(CHT). The study was based on in-depth interviews and FGDs with former- indigenous combatants to dig out their current situation in the nationalist project of CHT.
