I am an Assistant Professor of Psychology at North South University, where I teach and mentor students in the field of psychology. I have a PhD in Psychology from Monash University, where I conducted cutting-edge research on the non-image-forming effects of light on human behavior and cognition.
My research interests and expertise lie in human photobiology, especially the influence of spectral and temporal light characteristics on neurobehavioral responses. I have developed and applied various protocols and methods, such as psychophysical tests, data analysis tools, and lighting design, to investigate the effects of artificial light on human cognition. I have published multiple papers in peer-reviewed journals, such as Scientific Reports, Frontiers in Psychology, Mindfulness and presented my findings at international conferences. I have received several awards and commendations for my outstanding performance and dedication, such as the Best Mentor Award in 2021 (Bangladesh Psychometric Society), the Student Travel Award in 2022 (SLTBR), and the Commendation for JCSMHS Best Graduate Research Publication 2022 (Psychology category).
My goal is to quantify and optimize the effects of electric light on behavior and cognition in the context of human health and well-being. I am also part of a team who is developing a human-centric light that can provide effective photobiologic countermeasures for circadian disruption. I am passionate about advancing the knowledge and practice of psychology and photobiology, and collaborating with other researchers and practitioners in this field.

My research interests focus on the influence of lighting on cognitive performance, mood, and well-being in different environments (visual and non-visual effects of light). I have dedicated a significant part of my career to studying how various lighting conditions can impact human cognitive functions and have also developed methodologies for assessing light exposure behaviors. My academic collaborations span several countries, including Malaysia, Bangladesh, and the United States, focusing on the behavioral responses to light exposure and their health implications. These international projects have been instrumental in broadening my understanding of cross-cultural research dynamics and have contributed significantly to my professional growth and publication record.
In the field of psychometrics, my work emphasizes test validation and the application of advanced statistical analysis techniques such as item response theory and structural equation modeling. I am interested in developing computer-based cognitive tests to improve research efficiency across various settings. I am an open-science enthusiast and support enhanced data reproducibility and transparency by creating dynamic, reproducible documents
