Bio Assay Guided Drug Discovery:
Plant kingdom has been considered as a rich source of lead compounds. In my ongoing research I am screening plant extract to discover noble therapeutics. At this moment I am focusing on antidiabetic drug discovery.
In my lab, students prepare extracts from plants and test those extracts on animal models (rats/mice). Potential extracts are fractionated, purified and finally compounds within the extract are characterized with the aid of different spectroscopic techniques.
