Dr. Salah Uddin's research focuses on materials characterization, advanced materials, and manufacturing techniques. He uses the 3D printing (i.e.; Additive Manufacturing) technique. He applies designing strength and materials expertise and uses 3D printers to make materials. He tests materials for characterization and designs materials to improve performance. and uses machine learning to fabricate defect-free materials. A 3D printer is an office-friendly machine and students find easy access to make materials for their research. Amusingly, the 3D printing technique shows strong prominence and efficacy in applications in Industry 4.0 manufacturing. The superiority of 3D printing has drawn the attention of students and their parents as well. Another area of interest in his research is nanoparticle physics and device engineering. He applies experimental and computational approaches to this field.
He received a doctoral degree from a Collaborative Materials Science and Engineering program, at Montana Technological University, USA. Dr. Salah Uddin’s research was fully sponsored by Aberdeen Proving Ground - DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory on the high strain rate mechanical deformation behavior of additive manufacturing materials. His research was also supported by the National Science Foundation in Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics for investigating atomic cesium and molecular iodine. After completing his Ph.D., Dr. Salah Uddin accepted a Welch Foundation-sponsored Postdoctoral Fellowship at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas for Developing a Single Molecule Localization Lithography technique. At Miami University, Dr. Salah Uddin used gamma-ray spectroscopy to investigate materials' defects. He also applied theoretical techniques for fractal methods, time-resolved infrared thermography, and materials manufacturing theory for additive manufacturing processes.
Dr. Salah Uddin worked as a materials engineer for three years in ISO and A2LA-certified industrial materials testing laboratories, materials manufacturing facilities, and the automotive industry. He investigated a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials produced by different manufacturing methods. He used a wide range of materials testing techniques, non-destructive methods, investment casting techniques, and heat treatment facilities for engineering materials.
As an educator, Dr. Salah Uddin is trained in practicing pedagogical methods in an effective learning system. He received training in advanced college teaching techniques and obtained certification on issues in the classroom management system. He also taught physics and engineering courses at Miami University and Montana Technological University.
At North South University, Dr. Salah Uddin is interested in the innovation of advanced and intelligent materials for engineering applications.
