Description & Responsibilities

COO,

Co-Founder

Onushongo. Bangladesh

Oct 2018-present

Founded by six architects after winning the 2018 BRAC Urban Innovation Challenge, Onushongo Bangladesh operates as a social enterprise dedicated to providing affordable and safe housing solutions for lower and lower-middle-income populations. By collaborating with various government entities and international organizations such as the UNDP, BRAC, Edu Foundation and Dhaka Metropolitian Police, the enterprise implements social housing projects designed to elevate the living standards of distressed communities and small landowners across Bangladesh. The mission focuses on transitioning from basic slum upgrades to high-quality, permanent urban housing that remains accessible to those traditionally excluded from professional architectural services, ensuring that modern standards are balanced with specific social and cultural needs. To maintain a service that is both contextual and cost-effective, the organization employs a participatory framework that actively engages architecture students, local masons, financial institutions, and the communities themselves through hands-on workshops, ensuring that the final housing solutions are structurally sound and deeply integrated into the local environment.
