The much-awaited Civil Fest 2025 kicked off with a bang on February 26th, 2025. The day began with an electrifying flashmob performance by the students of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (DCEE). The students showcased their dance moves to a variety of songs, bringing infectious energy and fun to the crowd.
Following this lively opener, the fest commenced with a cake-cutting ceremony attended by esteemed faculty members of the department and the Treasurer and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (IC) Prof. Abdur Rob Khan. Day one primarily focused on competitions and engaging activities. The exhibition hall buzzed with excitement as students from various universities, colleges and schools showcased their projects and presentations.
One of the major highlights was Mechanics Mania, a fun and competitive event for university students. The event was filled with enthusiasm with participants from institutions like KUET, MIST, UAP, UITS, DIU, and BUET, among others. Another thrilling competition was Buzzer Master, where university students tested their quick thinking and knowledge. After an intense preliminary round, the top 12 contestants advanced to the buzzer round, leading to an exciting showdown to determine the winners. The Battle of Brains competition featured students from schools and colleges like Rajuk Uttara Model College, Playpen, Dhaka Imperial College, and others competing in a fun quiz. The combination of energetic performances, engaging competitions, and vibrant interactions created a memorable experience for everyone involved.
The second day of Civil Fest 2025 continued with the poster and project presentations from the previous day. At around 11 AM, an engaging seminar hosted by BSRM featured an inspiring speech that captivated the audience. A special magazine commemorating the 12-year journey of the Department was unveiled and distributed, showcasing the department’s remarkable accomplishments and milestones over the past decade.
The excitement built up as the prize-giving ceremony commenced at 3:30 PM, attended by distinguished guests, including Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Engineer M. Shamim Uz Zaman Basunia and Guest of Honor Prof. Dr. M. Firoz Ahmed, along with several Special Guests. All winners, both individuals and groups, received prizes, certificates, and crests, celebrating their hard work and dedication.
The day's events culminated in a vibrant cultural program featuring the play "Curing." The fest concluded on a high note with a performance by Minar Rahman during the closing ceremony. The entire event was filled with fun and excitement, making it a memorable conclusion to this year’s fest. The memories created during this fest will surely resonate for years to come, uniting everyone in a shared celebration of progress and creativity.
