Programs

Currently, the department runs a twenty-one (21) credits "Math Minor" program and a fifteen (15) credits "Physics Minor" program. However, a complete program of MSc in Applied and Computational Sciences (AMCS)  is waiting for approval. Our vision is to transform our department from a present course-offering position to a full-fledged department that, among other things, will offer a major in Mathematics and Physics.

  Math Minor Program
  •   21 credits Math Minor program.
  •   Students from any discipline can choose the Math Minor program. Students need to complete the following 7 (seven)  courses of mathematics, each of 3 (three) credits:  MAT-120 (Calculus and Analytic Geometry-I), MAT-125(Introduction of Linear Algebra), MAT-130 (Calculus and Analytic Geometry-II), MAT-250 (Calculus and Analytic Geometry-III), MAT-370 (Real  Analysis), MAT-480 (Differential Equations) and MAT-485 (Operations Research).
  • Students enrolled in an engineering program at NSU must complete at least 9 (nine)  extra credit hours to qualify for a Minor in Mathematics in addition to their major degrees. Students any 3 (three) courses, each of 3 (three) credits, from the list:  MAT370 (Real  Analysis), MAT480 (Differential Equations), MAT481 (Numerical Methods), MAT482( Complex Variables and Its Applications), MAT483 (Mathematical Control Theory and Applications), and MAT485 (Operations Research),
  • Course outlines of the above courses can be found under the "Courses" menu on the departmental webpage.
 Physics Minor Program
  •   15 credits Physics Minor program.
  •   Students enrolled in an engineering program at NSU must complete at least 15 extra credit hours to qualify for a Minor in Physics in addition to their major degrees. Students need the following 4 (four) compulsory courses, each of 3 (three) credits:  PHY230 (Properties of Matter), PHY240 (Waves and Oscillations), PHY250 (Modern Physics I), PHY260 (Thermal Physics), and one more optional course from a list of courses.
  •   Course outlines of the above courses will be available soon "Courses" menu on the departmental webpage.
