Norwegian Ambassador to Bangladesh Talks on Peace at NSU during the Ambassador Talk Series: Session 2

 

The Center for Peace Studies (CPS) of the South Asian Institute of Policy and Governance (SIPG) of North South University (NSU) and the Office of External Affairs (OEA) of NSU today jointly organized a seminar on 'Ambassador Talk Series: Session 2'. The topic of the seminar was 'Peace.’ The event aimed to discuss sustainable peace and how it can be achieved. The keynote speaker at the seminar was H.E. Espen Rikter-Svendsen, Ambassador of Norway to Bangladesh. He discussed various ways of achieving sustainable peace, including negotiating between political parties, developing networks such as engagements, available financial and human resources with international organizations, and the participation of women in the peace process. NSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Atiqul Islam chaired the session. Professor Islam underscored the need for a holistic approach to building context-specific peace worldwide. Dr. Katherine Li, Director, OEA & Adviser of CPS, NSU moderated the session, while Dr. Abdul Wohab, Coordinator, CPS & Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science and Sociology, NSU welcomed. Professor Dr. Sk. Tawfique M. Haque, Director CPS & SIPG and the Chair of Dept of PSS, NSU, offered a vote of thanks.
