This is Md Arifuzzaman, who completed his Master of Science in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Lethbridge, Canada in 2018. He also did another Master's and four years B.Sc. (Hon's) degree in Physics from Shah Jalal University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh in 2009.

He joined as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Physics at North South University, Bangladesh on September 03, 2018. Previously, he worked as a full-time Faculty in Physics under the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at International Islamic University Chittagong from February 2009 to December 2016. He conducts different theoretical and sessional courses in Physics including Mechanics, Properties of Matters, Thermodynamics, Electromagnetism, and so on.

His research involvesd the remote sensing of atmospheric gas species like Methane in the far-infrared spectral range. He worked with the collaboration of Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), NASA, California, USA to record infrared spectra of methane molecule broadened by itself, air, and H2 using a high-resolution Fourier Transform Spectrometer (FTS) with a wide range of pressures and temperatures. He used a multi-spectrum fitting software called 'Labfit' to retrieve their spectral line-shape parameters, where the initial line parameters were used from HITRAN 2015 molecular database. He used the speed-dependent Voigt Profile in the fitting procedure to retrieve various line-shape parameters like broadening and pressure-induced shift coefficients along with their temperature dependencies. He also used the off-diagonal matrix formalism to quantify the line mixing coefficients. The outcome of this research is necessary for the correct estimation of the earth's atmospheric budget as well as for remote sensing of other planetary explanatory atmospheres. The results can be used to update different spectroscopic databases such as HITRAN, GEISA, and to the correct estimation of the earth-radiation budget.

His current research is focused on the synthesis and characterization of magnetic nanomaterials and DFT investigations of Perovskite materials. He uses an auto combusted Sol-gel method to synthesize Cu or Al-substituted Ni-Cu-Cd ferrite nanoparticles at different calcination temperatures. The particles are formed in the nanoscale range (less than 50 nm) verified through TEM, FESEM, and XRD techniques. Dynamic (electrical and dielectric) transport properties are carried out by a computer-controlled Wayne Kerr impedance analyzer (6500B). The Vibration Sample Magnetometer (VSM) technique is used for the analysis of DC magnetization. Different electromagnetic properties such as dielectric, modulus, impedance spectroscopy of the nanostructured Ni-Cu-Cd samples are explored and the studied nanomaterial for their high-frequency applications. He has published a good number of research articles in various peer-reviewed journals. He has also presented his research findings at different national and international conferences.

Besides academic business, he has a lot of interests in extracurricular activities. He worked as a President of the SUST Cricket Club during the period from 2007-2009. He is always seeking research collaboration with colleagues in similar research fields locally and globally.
